At its annual leadership transition ceremony, held at Mello Bistro in Debe, the Rotary Club of Penal celebrated a historic and highly impactful year of service. Outgoing President Jason Gopie reflected on a remarkable term, This dedication resulted in the club capturing the prestigious regional Platinum Award for outstanding achievements.
Under Gopie’s leadership, the club executed some impactful humanitarian initiatives. Key achievements from the past year include:
Water Security: Installing critical rainwater harvesting systems for families facing severe water scarcity.
Inclusivity & Mobility: Driving local empowerment through dedicated wheelchair distributions and the signature Goalball project for the
visually impaired.
Infrastructure Restoration: Partnering with a local community group to completely renovate a dilapidated community recreation pavilion,
restoring a vital space for residents.
Youth Leadership & Development: Expanding its youth arms to secure the record for the most Interact clubs in the district, alongside the
Avocat Vedic Earlyact Club being recognized as one of the district's top-performing youth clubs.
"Serving as your President has been a truly rewarding experience," Gopie stated during his farewell address. "Our success is a direct result of the unwavering commitment, endless sacrifices, and hard work of our dynamic team.
Incoming President Rotarian Vijay Boochoon thanked the members for the confidence they have placed in him and said that emphasis will be to continue strengthening fellowship and team work within the Club and to continue to deliver impactful projects and successful fundraisers so that we can continue to best serve our Communities.
